Why is using a face primer important before putting on make-up?

I just use moisturizer then my concealer and foundation...but why use a primer? Just seems like a useless marketing deal cosmetics companies are using to sell even more products??

also this is kind of related...whats the diff between base and primer? Why is using a face primer important before putting on make-up?
Using a makeup primer is the best way to make your makeup stay put on for longer. The makeup primers are relatively new products on the market but now are gaining more and more popularity. Their aim is to prepare the skin for the makeup application, they pamper the skin and create a protective base for longer- lasting, natural looking foundation application and wear. The primers give the makeup something to grab onto and help your makeup last longer, because the makeup primers create a smooth and perfect surface.

DIFFERENCE:a primer is something you put on as a barrier between your skin and foundation. the reason for using a primer is that it makes your skin smoother and you don't need as much foundation to get a beautiful finish.

A base is just a prep to make your skin look smooth and flawless but if you use primer then skip the base because it clogs your poresWhy is using a face primer important before putting on make-up?
If you try a primer before your foundation you`ll notice the difference.

Primer doesn`t penetrate into the skin, it only gives you the illusion that your skin is softer, and your foundation application will glide on with much more easiness.

There`s no difference between the primer and the base, they are both the same thing.

Hope that helped.

Good Luck.

Good Bye.
i generally don't wear make-up other than eye shadow. An occasional foundation if I have a zit or something like that. Whatever you use be sure that it doesn't change the way you look to an extreme. Something natural, but complimenting is great. I don't use a primer or a base, but there are a few tips.
I don't think primer is necessary, but it's great to control oily skin and to help your foundation go on smoother and stay in place all day. It can also help conceal or ';fill in'; large pores or fine lines.

I'm pretty sure base and primer is the same thing, but some people call foundation 'base.'
It helps the makeup go on smoother. and also if you have like pimples,or wrinkles it fills in the creases.
because it helps the makeup go on smoother
